For those of you in the U.S., doesn't Hal's new show, "Survival of the Richest" start this Friday night on the WB? It suddenly dawned on me that his show will begin around April Fool's Day--how fitting. He is a self-proclaimed joker, after all. LOL *face/palm* (It is early in the morning and I haven't had my coffee yet.)

It's one of these reality shows and I think it has to do with people with money vs. people without. I'm not really sure, but in an interview he said that since it was in the spirit of fun he'd host, otherwise he doesn't want to get type-cast as a fun TV host only, since besides QaF, his biggest claim to fame was as the host of "Talk Soup" on E-Entertainment TV.

not sure about Survival of the Richest but someone just posted in a QAF yahoo group that Hal will be on "Las Vegas" Friday night. I've not watched this show before so I don't know anything about it but the person said Josh Duhamel, James Caan, Robert Wagner, Cheryl Ladd will also be in it.

That's interesting. He guest starred on Dr. Vegas (I think that's the title) with Rob Lowe this past year. I watched that.

I read the synopsis of this somewhere the other night with equus07. Let me see if I can find it and I'll post it.

Yep, more reality tv for the WB. They must feel the need to compete with Fox. ;)

Um...ok. I didn't even know about this until now. LOL!

(It is early in the morning and I haven't had my coffee yet.)

If it makes you feel any better, I sat for a good ten seconds trying to remember how to spell apparently.

LOL! Just remember Gale's ep in The Unit will be on in a few weeks and this summer he'll be guesting on Deadwood.

I'd seen the info. about Hal posted a while ago. It may have been through In Babylon, but I'm not sure.

It seems that it is a definite go for this Friday at 8PM eastern time on the WB. Hal will host the reality show that involves people who are rich vs. people who are in debt. I think that's the premise. He had said in an interview (which might even be on his site) that he tries to steer away from hosting because he doesn't want to be type-cast in that role since he's already most known for "Talk Soup". Even when he guest stars in TV shows he frequently gets the part of a moderator. He said that this looked like fun and was [somehow] different. I figure it's worth a shot. I've enjoyed Hal's stand-up routine.

Heh, I have to admit, I was kind of disappointed to hear that he was going to do this kind of thing. All I'd ever heard/read him say was how stupid reality tv was and now he's hosting one? Doesn't make much sense to me. The only reality show that I've watched and gotten sucked into is Real World/Road Rules Challenge. I'll probably check out this show if I'm not busy but I don't know if I'll go out of my way to tape it. I'd prefer to have him continue to do standup because that seems like his biggest strength...though I'm sure he'll be cracking spontaneous jokes on this show too but I think I just have too big of an aversion to most reality tv...

I personally hate reality TV. I don't think I've watched anything since the second season of American Idol (the Clay Aiken year). The closest I get to "reality" TV is I enjoy "good quality" documentaries/biographies.

I really like Hal on "Talk Soup". Remembering him fondly on that program was one of the things that helped reel me in to watching QaF, initially. About 1 1/2 years ago I saw him do stand-up at Caroline's on Broadway. He was very funny and incredibly generous with his fans. He would take multiple photos, talk to fans and made sure he signed everyone's programs. You could tell he knew the value of maintaining a good rapore with fans.

Hal (I think on his site) stated that he decided to do this show because it had a "different" feel to it. We'll see. He also shared that he didn't want to always play the host because he was concerned about getting type-cast. I do think that he's definitely got something to worry about there. Even in his TV guest appearances on dramas he seems to get cast as a host or moderator.

He was in an offbeat movie about obsessed baseball fans a few years ago. He demonstrated his real talents in his bizarre character in that one.
