Question to Flist
Mar. 28th, 2006 07:07 amFor those of you in the U.S., doesn't Hal's new show, "Survival of the Richest" start this Friday night on the WB? It suddenly dawned on me that his show will begin around April Fool's Day--how fitting. He is a self-proclaimed joker, after all. LOL *face/palm* (It is early in the morning and I haven't had my coffee yet.)

If it makes you feel any better, I sat for a good ten seconds trying to remember how to spell apparently.

I'd seen the info. about Hal posted a while ago. It may have been through In Babylon, but I'm not sure.
It seems that it is a definite go for this Friday at 8PM eastern time on the WB. Hal will host the reality show that involves people who are rich vs. people who are in debt. I think that's the premise. He had said in an interview (which might even be on his site) that he tries to steer away from hosting because he doesn't want to be type-cast in that role since he's already most known for "Talk Soup". Even when he guest stars in TV shows he frequently gets the part of a moderator. He said that this looked like fun and was [somehow] different. I figure it's worth a shot. I've enjoyed Hal's stand-up routine.

Date: 2006-03-29 03:23 am (UTC)I really like Hal on "Talk Soup". Remembering him fondly on that program was one of the things that helped reel me in to watching QaF, initially. About 1 1/2 years ago I saw him do stand-up at Caroline's on Broadway. He was very funny and incredibly generous with his fans. He would take multiple photos, talk to fans and made sure he signed everyone's programs. You could tell he knew the value of maintaining a good rapore with fans.
Hal (I think on his site) stated that he decided to do this show because it had a "different" feel to it. We'll see. He also shared that he didn't want to always play the host because he was concerned about getting type-cast. I do think that he's definitely got something to worry about there. Even in his TV guest appearances on dramas he seems to get cast as a host or moderator.
He was in an offbeat movie about obsessed baseball fans a few years ago. He demonstrated his real talents in his bizarre character in that one.
